Current Projects

Cliterature Advocacy Project

Jessica's strategy of contacting authors, editors, and publishers directly has proven successful. SHE Project hopes to build upon this legacy by recruiting boots on the ground advocates within medicine as well as volunteers from all sectors. We are developing templates to make this approachable for anyone.

Anatomy Resource Justice

SHE Project advocates for anatomy resources to be accurate and uncensored. This includes educational materials specific to medical schools.

Anatomy and Biomechanics Research

SHE Project hopes to be able to fund much needed anatomy research, as sufficient measurements for the clitoris would help influence medical resource authors to stop publishing incorrect illustrations. Research on the biomechanics of the vulva has not been done, despite being described in JAMA in 1963 as the source of female orgasm during penetration. Surgeons alter biomechanics without considering this mechanism. We also need a dissection study of the labial nerve, as it innervates the clitoral frenulum.

The Vulva Visibility Movement

Vulvar anatomy has historically been neglected due to taboo and lack of interest. Changing this involves a social movement to enact cultural change. Information spreads so quickly there that detailed anatomy of the clitoris had been liked and shared over 100,000 times before it finally made its way into an OB/GYN textbook. This is why SHE Project is creating merchandise and working on strategies for social media campaigning.

Survivor Support

SHE Project is working to create resources to help survivors cope with the trauma of loss of sexual function, navigate the medical liability system, and find the most up to date medical help available.

Truth and Integrity Initiative

Jessica previously got harmful misinformation removed from textbooks, an ACOG Committee Opinion, the ASPS website, the Stanford Plastic Surgery Website, and the websites for multiple private doctors, but misinformation about vulvas is still widespread. SHE Project is developing strategies to scale this.

Precision Illustration Series

SHE Project aims to create the most accurate illustrations ever published.

Campaign for Standardized Change

As of 2018, the nerves in the clitoris had never been published in a major OB/GYN journal. The American Board of OB/GYN denied any problem when Jessica began campaigning. By 2021, this anatomy was added to Maintenance of Certification, though it is still only optional for OB/GYNs. SHE Project is working towards rapid, top down change from professional medical organizations.

SHE GPT

SHE Project has been working on SHE GPT, an LLM fine-tuned to provide accurate details regarding vulvar anatomy and female sexual function, for which healthcare providers are too often not reliable sources of correct answers. Due to the volume of misinformation in typical training sets, we are looking for other solutions. Our OpenAI fine-tuned SHE GPT simply will not work.

Labiaplastyrisks.com

Currently, there are no information resources about female genital cosmetic surgery that aren't created by people who profit from them. The worst outcomes are never recognized by surgeons who perform these surgeries or in the medical literature. SHE Project is creating a website that shares relevant findings from peer-reviewed research, anatomy information, and patient stories. Women have a right to autonomy. Misinformed consent is not consent.
